Hi, I am katherine barker

Here is a little about me

Fifteen-odd years ago I picked up a camera and never really put it back down.

Since then I've shot across a dozen countries, chased more styles than I can count, and slowly unlearned most of what I thought photography was supposed to look like.

There's a version of this industry right now that feels a bit loud - everyone chasing the same light, the same poses, the same ten-second trend. I got tired of it before I'd even properly started, which is probably why Terrasili looks the way it does.

I'm not interested in a photo that just shows you what someone looked like on a Tuesday afternoon. I want the version underneath that — the glance between a man and his dog mid-laugh, the way a hand finds a belly without thinking, the four seconds after the "real" shot when everyone forgets the camera's still there. That's usually the frame I keep. Sometimes there's more hidden magic in one of those than in an entire video.

If I'm honest, I think we've drifted a long way from the things that actually hold us together — each other, and the animals and wild spaces we were never really separate from to begin with. It's an easy thing to lose in a world built for convenience. I don't think a photograph fixes that. But I think it can remind you it's still there, if you let it.

That's the whole idea behind the soft, dreamy edit I use. Nothing too sharp, nothing too polished — closer to how a good memory actually feels a few years on. A little glow around the edges. Proof the magic was real, even if nobody can quite explain it.

Off camera, I'm short, stubborn, and probably too driven for my own good.

....

But I'll happily spend the first twenty minutes of a session just watching how you and your dog actually move around each other before I ask you to do anything at all. Minimal posing, unless we need a specific shot. Mostly, I just follow the afternoon around with a camera and let it do what it's going to do.

I'd love to learn more about you, the connections you hold dear, and the moments waiting to be remembered through light, shadow, and the magic in between.
