Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find frequently asked and common questions regarding both Personal Sessions and Commercial Sessions.

I do my best in providing everything I can here but please do not hesitate to get in touch for anything else.

Please note that Personal and Commercial Sessions use different processes.

Personal sessions

1. Where do you shoot, and do you travel?

Travel is included within Fish Hoek, Muizenberg, Noordhoek, Glen Cairn and Simons Town, and up to 15km from Fish Hoek. Beyond that, R7/km one way applies. For locations further afield, get in touch and I’ll quote it individually.

2. How many people and pets can be in a session?

A personal session covers up to 5 people and up to 3 pets. Additional people are R250 each, and additional pets are R150 each.

3. Do you photograph weddings or engagements?

No, Terrasili Visuals is lifestyle, pet, and commercial photography only.

Please get in touch for enquiries regarding other events such as weddings. Things can be arranged depending on the situation.

4. How do I book?

Respond to the email with your general idea of what you’re interested in, and I’ll forward you the booking form to get started. A 50% deposit secures your date.

5. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

You get one complimentary reschedule with 48 hours’ notice. Weather postponements are always free, no questions asked. After that, the deposit is non-refundable and a new deposit secures the new date.

6. Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers are available and valid for 12 months. Get in touch to arrange one.

7. Do you offer digital files, prints, or albums?

Sessions include digital files, delivered in a private online gallery with high-resolution downloads. Social media versions are available as an add-on. Fine art, framed, and canvas prints are available on request. RAW files are not supplied. Each personal session also includes a complimentary Polaroid keepsake, when you’re happy for a few images to appear in Terrasili’s own marketing.

8. When will I receive my photos?

Sneak peeks within 72 hours, and your full gallery within two weeks. If you need it sooner, rush delivery gets you the full gallery within 7 days for R2,800 (update this if you change the price).

9. Can I use my photos for my business?

Personal sessions include a personal usage licence. For business use, book a commercial session (from R3,500). If you’ve already had a personal session, ask me about a licence upgrade.

10. Can I share my photos on social media?

Yes, on your personal accounts. (Tagging @terrasilivisuals is always appreciated!)

11. How do I pay?

Payment is by EFT to the details on your invoice. The 50% deposit secures your date, and the balance is due before final gallery delivery.

12. How should we prepare for the session?

Wear what you’re comfortable in, and choose colours that sit well together rather than matching exactly. Bring treats or a favourite toy for pets, and keep dogs on a lead or under reliable voice control. For a busy or nervous pet, bring a second person to help. I’ll send preparation details, location and timing once your date is confirmed.

commercial sessions

1. What counts as a commercial session?

Any use that promotes a business, brand, product, service or sponsored content, including creators and influencers. If you’re not sure whether your use is personal or commercial, ask me before the session.

2. How are commercial sessions priced?

By time, setups and finished images, not by the number of people or pets. A setup is one distinct subject, look or scene with its own styling and lighting. Session is R3,500 (up to 2 hours, 2 setups, 40 images), Half-Day is R6,000 (up to 4 hours, 4 setups, 60 images), and Full-Day is R11,500 (up to 8 hours, 8 setups, 120 images).

3. What does the marketing licence cover?

24 months from delivery of your full gallery, for marketing aimed at South Africa. It covers your website, your own social media accounts, email newsletters, your own listings and profiles, presentations, retailer listings of the licensed products, press use, and small-scale print for your own premises.

4. Can I use the images for paid ads or beyond 24 months?

Yes, as a licence extension. Extra 12 months, an additional channel (paid advertising, outdoor advertising, packaging, TV and video advertising), or a wider territory are each +25% of your session fee. Exclusivity is +50%.

5. How does a commercial shoot work?

Send an inquiry with your brand, the shots you need, your preferred date and a location idea. I’ll send a quote, and a 50% deposit secures your date. You then fill in a short brief (brand, shot list, references, products) and return it 5 working days before the shoot.

6. Who provides the models, products and styling?

You do, unless we agree otherwise in your quote. Products should arrive clean, complete and ready to photograph. You’re also responsible for signed model releases for anyone appearing in the images, except people I recruit.

7. Do I need permits for the location?

Commercial locations may need permission or a filming permit. Getting and paying for these is your responsibility.

8. Do you travel for commercial shoots?

Travel is included within Fish Hoek, Muizenberg, Noordhoek, Glen Cairn and Simons Town, and up to 15km from Fish Hoek. Beyond that, R7/km one way applies. For remote locations, accommodation is charged at cost.

9. When do I get the images, and can I add more?

Sneak peeks arrive within 72 hours, and the full gallery within two weeks. One round of minor edit requests is included within 7 days of delivery. RAW files are not supplied. Rush delivery (within 7 days) is R1,000 for a Session, R1,500 for a Half-Day and R2,500 for a Full-Day. Extra finished images are R750 per 10 or R1,400 per 20, and an extra hour (including 1 extra setup) is R1,750.

10. How do payments and cancellations work?

A 50% deposit secures your date, and the balance is due before final gallery delivery. Quotes are valid for 5 business days. You get one complimentary reschedule with 48 hours’ notice, and weather postponements are always free. A second reschedule, or less than 48 hours’ notice, means a new deposit, and the deposit is non-refundable once your date is confirmed.

11. Which session do I need?

Count the distinct subjects, looks or scenes you want covered, and plan roughly one setup per hour. Two setups fits a Session (up to 2 hours). Three or four, such as three animals each with a handler, outfit and toy, fits a Half-Day (up to 4 hours). A full range of scenes, like a lodge or reserve covering drives, dining and landscapes, suits a Full-Day (up to 8 hours). Larger campaigns are quoted individually, so get in touch and we’ll figure out the shape of it together.

12. Can my agency or another business use the images?

An agency working on your behalf can use the images within your licence. The licence covers one brand and can’t be transferred or sublicensed, so a different business needs its own licence. Cropping and resizing are fine. Heavy edits, composites or changes to the colour grade need my permission, and the images can’t be used to train AI models.
